2-Day Mount Toubkal Summit Trek – Conquer North Africa’s Highest Peak (4,167m)
Challenge yourself with an unforgettable 2-day adventure to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m), the highest peak in North Africa, nestled in the heart of the majestic Atlas Mountains.
Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech, leaving behind the bustling medina as you drive towards the peaceful mountain village of Imlil (1,740 m), the gateway to Toubkal. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of terraced hillsides, traditional Berber homes, and winding mountain roads.
Upon arrival in Imlil, you’ll meet your certified local mountain guide and mule team before starting your trek. The trail gradually ascends through juniper forests, rocky paths, and dramatic valleys, offering spectacular views at every turn. You’ll pass the sacred shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, a local pilgrimage site, before continuing toward the mountain refuge.
By late afternoon, you reach the Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m), your base for the night. After a well-earned rest, enjoy a freshly prepared Moroccan dinner while surrounded by towering peaks and complete mountain silence. The clear night sky at this altitude is often filled with brilliant stars.
Before sunrise on day two, the summit push begins. Equipped with headlamps, you ascend steadily across rocky slopes and high-altitude terrain. The final climb is challenging but incredibly rewarding. Standing on the summit of Mount Toubkal as the sun rises is a moment you will never forget. From the top, enjoy breathtaking 360° panoramic views stretching across the Atlas Mountains and, on clear days, all the way toward the Sahara Desert.
After celebrating your achievement and capturing unforgettable photos, you descend back to the refuge for a short break before continuing down to Imlil, where your driver awaits to transfer you comfortably back to Marrakech.
