We will depart from Santander and head to the Cabezón de la Sal Sequoia Forest, declared a Natural Monument in 2003. Covering 2.5 hectares, it is one of the largest sequoia forests in Spain. Once we arrive, we’ll take a short walk along its network of trails, admiring the forest’s breathtaking beauty and enjoying the peace and quiet among its trees, some reaching up to 40 meters in height.
Next, we will travel to the town of San Vicente de la Barquera, one of the most beautiful and iconic views in the entire Cantabrian coastline, where the sea and estuary blend with the backdrop of the Picos de Europa.
In San Vicente, we willl explore its bridges and the historic old town, which has been declared a Cultural Heritage site of Cantabria due to its important monuments and the remains of an ancient defensive wall. Highlights include the Gothic Church of Santa María de los Ángeles and the Castillo del Rey, which we will also visit.
Finally, you’ll have some free time to relax, grab a drink, or shop around the town before we return to Santander.
