TOUR DESCRIPTION
Join us on this full-day tour to explore the Liébana region, a land of breathtaking landscapes where the majestic Picos de Europa rise above Cantabria’s stunning scenery. Along the way, we’ll pass through picturesque villages, lush forests, and the dramatic Hermida Gorge, the longest gorge in the region.
Our first stop is the Monastery of Santo Toribio, one of the four holy sites of Christianity. This sacred place is home to the Lignum Crucis, the largest preserved fragment of the Cross of Jesus, making it a significant pilgrimage destination.
Next, we will continue to Fuente Dé, where you’ll have free time to explore. You can take a horseback riding excursion or ride the cable car to the upper station at 1,823 meters above sea level. In just four minutes, the cable car ascends to a stunning panoramic viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of the Picos de Europa.
At 2:45 p.m., we’ll arrive in Potes, the charming capital of Liébana and one of Spain’s most beautiful towns. Known for its cobblestone streets, historic bridges, and the medieval Torre del Infantado, Potes is the perfect place to relax and soak in the region’s rich history. Here, we will take a break for lunch (not included). Due to the town’s popularity and limited dining options, we highly recommend booking a restaurant in advance.
After lunch, we’ll enjoy a leisurely walking tour of Potes, exploring its scenic bridges, charming streets, and riverside pathways before beginning our return journey.
